These groups typically build really quickly because a lot of people on Facebook are actually there looking for networking and marketing opportunities, and they are eager to add as many friends as possible.
For those who do not know what I am talking about, here is an "Add Friends" group that I created just today:

As you can see, a bunch of people have joined the group already.
