On Sunday the Edmonton Sun had an article on the world water crisis that really got us thinking about things.
The world is rapidly running out of clean fresh water.
Did you know that every eight seconds a child dies from drinking dirty water?
Did you know that a new desert the size of Rhode Island is created in China because of drought every year?
Did you know that in the developing world, 90% of wastewater is discharged untreated into local rivers?
Did you know that by 2050, 1.7 billion people will live in "dire water poverty" and will be forced to relocate?
Did you know that half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by people with waterborne diseases?
Did you know that the World Health Organization says contaminated water is implicated in 80% of all sickness and disease worldwide?
Did you know that newborns in the global north consume 40 to 70 times more water than in the global south?
Did you know that in China, 80% of its major rivers are so polluted they don't support aquatic life?
Did you know that the women of South Africa collectively walk the equivalent distance to the moon and back 16 times a day for water?
During these end times it will be imperative that you have a source of clean water for you and your family.
Things are getting bad out there folks.
