The war between Russia and Georgia is continuing to heat up.
Georgian troops completely retreated from South Ossetia on Sunday and the Georgian government is pressing for a truce. Of course, who would have thought that Georgia was going to be able to out-muscle Russia?
Russia is a superpower.
Georgia is not.
The intense fighting has left the region of South Ossetia a total mess. The city of Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, is a complete disaster zone after three days of intense fighting between Russian troops and Georgian forces.
Meanwhile, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili says that Russian forces have invaded the Georgian province of Abkhazia after taking control of most of South Ossetia. Russia is also moving warships towards Abkhazia.
There are also rumors flying around the Ukraine is considering getting involved in the conflict on some level. If Ukraine took any hostile action towards Russia at this point, things could really spiral out of control quite quickly.
